Bachelor Party in A.C.!

My brother is getting married in January.  But this past weekend may have been the craziest experience of my life, unfortunately for you I will not reveal all the details, so I will keep it PG.  This Bachelor party was no ordinary one.  It was more like a Bachelor weekend.  Walking in to our corner suite at Harrah’s Casino was the start of the excitement.  It has been the biggest hotel suite I’ve ever stayed in.  My cousin and I were the first to arrive and while we were waiting on the rest of the guests, we didn’t know what to do with ourselves in the gigantic room.  Once all the guests arrived the beers were opened shots were poured and the night began.  The first night we kept it cool, gambled a little bit, and hit the bar to meet up with my father and grandfather.  Three generations at the bar to celebrate happy times to come for the soon-to-be married couple.  The first night we all stayed out till at least 3 in the morning only to wake up around 9:30 and start the day off right.

Four of us went to breakfast at 10 o’clock where we were greeted on-line with a complimentary Mimosa. (The breakfast of Champions).  After breakfast we got changed into some gym shorts and went down to the pool where we would continue the buzz.  margaritas by the pool for a few hours and nice swim made it feel like we were somewhere in the Caribbean.  After, we enjoyed a nice dinner at one of the restaurants in the hotel only to get back to the pool later on that night for more drinks and a little club action.  It was hard to maneuver with hundreds of people filling the space, but there’s always a way to find some dance space.  There was a time where my cousin and I couldn’t even find the bachelor in the crowd.  And at the end of the night, last men standing at 6 in the morning were just myself and my cousin.  Of course we had to wake up in like 2 hours to drive home, but we made it back in good time and in good health….well maybe not in good health but we made back.

There’s a New Chef in Town

Today’s Special – Chicken Milano

It takes about a half hour to cook but when its done and you have that sauce perfect it is delicious.  I don’t really cook a lot for good reason, but I was adventurous with this one and did a pretty good job.  I spent about 15 minutes in the the kitchen looking at the stove wondering where to begin when my roomate went into the refridgerator and handed me a beer.  I just thought to myself  “Of course! this is where I have to begin”.  After a few sips and relaxing breaths I began preparing the sauce.  Remember you should always be drinking when cooking (My fathers words of wisdom).  It just makes everything more fun and enjoyable.

Little butter, garlic, chicken broth, some sun dried tomatoes and heavy cream was all it took to make this meal delicious.  Sure the calories were a little high but thats what makes it so good.  Once the chicken and pasta were finished cooking it was all about presentation.

After the meal was prepared it was ready to be eaten.  My and my roommates enjoyed a meal together at the kitchen table.  Cooking another one of those things that just brings people together.  Try it sometime with your friends and family.

It’s So Cold I Need A Drink

Johnny Walker Blue

Image by Michael Kalus via Flickr

Winter is coming around the corner quicker than anyone could have excpected it, especially my house!  I’m renting a place with a few friends, but we are paying for everything including heat.  Now it takes a lot of money to heat up the house we are in and non of us are willing to pay a lot when we are here for just a few hours at a time.  So we all have to take one for the team and right now I’m writing to you while wearing a sweatshirt and a leather jacket.  Oh, I’m not outside, I’m just in my dining room.

Thank God for space heaters.  Currently we have two which keeps our rooms at a good temperature when we are sleeping, but when morning comes and our house is in the fifties, it gets a little rough.  Mornings and nights are the coldest so when a decent hour hits, its time for a drink and warm up a different way.  Winter is always a time when people stay in more and enjoy the company of a movie, some friends, and in my case, some scotch.  One of my best friends when it is cold is Johnny Walker.  He helps me through the tough winters.  Now don’t get me wrong, we consume recreationally, we don’t have a drinking problem, we just have a little fun and warm up having a few drinks and playing some games, and when it is time to go to bed we are more than prepared.

Many times we find ourselves staying out of our house and in our backyard building a fire to warm up next to, however, firewood comes at a price and so do the space heaters.  During the hard times you find ways to adapt.  Our ways have been Target and Lowes.  Our space heaters come cheap from Target and Lowes has some of the best and cheapest firewood.

So friends, tell me how you stay warm in the winter?

Who brought the keg?

I love Halloween parties! A time where everyone gets dressed up in costume and just has a good time with friends.  There should never be any drama going on at these these types of events and last friday was just that.  We knew we wanted to have a party a month ago but costumes are always hard to find.  It’s the only time where men say WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR!?!?!?!?  As we are decorating my house for the general joy of halloween a friend of mine comes over my house and we’re talking about the party when he has this brilliant idea to dress up like the cast of Kick Ass.  I play the role of Kick Ass, Kaitlyn plays Hit Girl, Chris plays Big Daddy, and Mike plays Red Mist.  We all made our costumes, and when I say that I mean that everyone else made their costume and I was just lazy.  However, needless to say we looked pretty bad ass.

DVD Cover of Kick Ass

Provisions for the parties cost us a pretty penny, but it was definitely worth it.  Who gets to have a fire going in the middle of the city?  Had to pick up some firewood for our chiminea along with lighterfluid, and of course the keg of coors light.  So yes, it was me who brought the keg.  Also got a bunch of alcohol with much thanks to Dave, James, Kelly, and Sonia.  With that we were able to make Ecto Plasm which consists of Vodka, Everclear, Southern Comfort, Triple Sec, Peach Schnapps, Strawberry Schnapps, Blue Curacao, Pinapple and Orange Juice.  With that combination who the hell knows what really happened.

Need I say more!

There was Beer Pong, Dice Games, and everything was awesome!  The best part is nobody got sick and nobody drove anywhere.  So thank you to all my friends for a great weekend of costume fun!

Carving Pumpkins

You can basically drink while doing any type of activity, in this case it is carving pumpkins.  One thing to be careful about is that you don’t get wasted before the actual carving process, this will result in bad things and most likely injury because you are using some sort of blade to cut through the pumpkin

I like to use stensils to get the right face or design I want.  Last year was the first time I carved a pumpkin so I was very excited to do it again and this time I decided to challenge myself a little bit.  Let me show you what I mean.

Dom's Pumpkin

This is the pumpkin that I carved last night.  Me and my roomates got together, each took a pumpkin by the stem and dug our hands into the guts of the pumpkin.  It was a great time shared with friends and beer.  Now we are more prepared to party hard for halloween.

Congratulations to the Happy Couple

Congrats to a good friend of mine who just got married over the weekend.  Some people may say its too soon, he just graduated college last year and also just met his wife recently, but love is a powerful thing.  He is definitely the nicest individual I know who will do anything for anyone.  Truth is, there are not enough words in the english dictionary to describe how good-hearted this person is.

So the wedding was in Queensbury, New York.  Don’t worry, I never heard of it before this weekend either.  I drove my four roomates and I to the hotel we were staying at around 8 o’clock.  We did not arive to the hotel till about midnight.  You think a four hour drive to the middle of nowhere would make you tired, but not this crew.  We don’t get to go on many vacations, so something like this were we have a whole weekend is unheard of.  Needless to say we put our things in our room and found the closest bar.  Lucky for us it was just ten minutes down the road, and lucky for us it was the last weekend they were staying

open for the season.  It was a good time, we were the only ones there but you got to make your own fun.  We got back around 2:30 but we figured we’d be ok since the wedding wasn’t until 3.

Next morning got up, we took turns showering and getting ready and we were ready to roll at 2 o’clock.  The ceremony was beautiful.  The chapel was where the groom got baptised, made his first communion, and where he got co

nfirmed, so it held its own sentimental value.  Getting to the reception was fine, it was at the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge.  The place is huge and has an indoor waterpark that we sadly did not partake in.  Walking into the cocktail hour we were pleasantly surprised to find it was open bar for two hours!  I’m sure you know from previous posts, me and my friends like to drink, especially for FREE.  So combine two hours of open bar and a dancefloor and you get drunken people moving their bodies in ways that shouldn’t be seen by the general public.  We all just had a blast.  And by t

he way, if any DJ’s are reading this, PLEASE don’t play the Cha Cha Slide, Electric Slide, Cotton-Eyed Joe, and the Cupid Shuffle in a row!  I don’t think I sweat that much before in all my life as I did after dancing to each one of those.

It was a very eventful night with family and friends.  Driving home the next morning is a

whole other story.  I spent more time in the car driving home than I did sleeping.  Never a good combination but with my roomates keeping me laughing, it turned out to be the best car ride ever!  Love you guys and once again Congrats to the happy couple.

It’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Peanut Butter and Jelly SHOTS.  Delicious and dangerous.

To make this delectable shot you need a few things.
First get yourself a shaker and fill it half way with ice.  Next comes the liquor

1/3 – Vodka
1/3 – Chambord
1/3 – Frangelico
I know what you’re thinking.  How can something Russian, French, and Italian blend so well? Try it, and you will see.

Once you have your liquors in the shaker, mix it up and pour it in a shot glass, and enjoy.

Drink responsibly and don’t drink and drive!

Barkley Golfs!

Charles Barkley, former NBA basketball player ...

Image via Wikipedia

I work at a Golf Club in the great city of Bayonne and upon entering work I was informed I would be the one waiting on the former basketball superstar Charles Barkley.  Now when you think of Barkley playing golf you probably think of his famous golf swing.  After serving him, I can now think of a few more things.  Let me start out by saying he was a very nice person and easy to wait on.  It may have been his three guests, and the other members of the club that made things awkward.  It is a pradominintly male club, so the females that are always there are the ones usually working with me.  Now i’m sure I was a fine waitor, but these guys don’t want to see me when they get off the coarse. When I first started talking to Barkley I notices he was a heiny guy….Heineken that is.  So they order a few appetizers and entrees and I’m being very careful with the food and drinks, because the first beer I gave him almost landed in his lap.

The uncomfortable part of the lunch happened when I was bringing up the last plate of their appetizers which just so happened to be chickin wings, and Barkley’s three guests just so happened to be white males.  With limited room on the table I attempted to put the plate down where I saw and opening accross from Barkley.  When I lowered the plate, one guest said to me “No, no, put those by Charles”, inferring that everyone else was getting full.  So I take the plate, go accross the table and put it next to Barkley.  Once the plate was down he turns and says to me, “What they just said was put the chicken next to the black man”.  The only thing I could have done was laugh with him, so that is what I did.  I avoided what could have been a bad situation and I came out of it with a hand shake and a, “Thanks my man”.

Lunch with Charles Barkley was a success

Day Drinking…..Good Idea?

So what was supposed to be a nice fun day in the city, quickly turned into a day of debauchery. What an awesome time me and my friends had going bar hoping around Manhattan. Now I’m sure some may not approve but you haven’t lived until you go to Off The Wagon for beat the clock on Saturday’s.

After pitchers and pitchers of beer, and maybe a pitcher of Sangria, we wound up at an awesome karaoke bar in what I think was Korean town. Don’t know exactly where we were but that’s the whole adventure!

At the end of the night it was the Saki Bombs that did me in. Singing N’Sync and Tenacious D were real crowd please’rs. My advice to those OF AGE, have fun, be careful, and enjoy yourself while you still can.
